Ahhh…one of my favorite questions. And also, my least favorite because it requires a minimum 5-minute conversation to explain how we got here.
Okay, here’s the run down. Arizona -> Texas A&M -> Met Levi in Huntsville (no, neither of us lived here. It was a fluke) -> Moved to Nebraska to pursue Master’s degree -> hated Nebraska/Loved Texas -> Where to Move in Texas? -> Huntsville seems nice -> Buy camper -> Move convoy from NE to Huntsville -> Never leave.
K, got it?
We had the unique situation to pick a dot on the map, pull our camper to it, and see if we liked it. If we didn’t, we would just pick up and try again.
But, we didn’t. We both fell in love with Huntsville and everything it had to offer. It checked ALL the boxes. Good food, any routine shopping we needed, cute town, business opportunities for both of us, within an hour of an international airport, small town but not too small, new HEB (lol), close to College Station, and Close to Houston for bougee shopping.
What we didn’t know was how welcoming and home-y the community is. We didn’t know Huntsville is the only town we can think of where people go to the community events (and there are lots of events!). We didn’t know Huntsville would welcome “outsiders”, never making you feel like you weren’t in the clique. We didn’t know Huntsville THRIVES on small business. We didn’t know how much this little town would impact our lives.
Now that we are landowners, we don’t plan on leaving anytime soon. I can’t imagine getting this lucky twice on finding such a great place to live. And maybe it’s because I have some exceptionally low standards (Ahem, Safford. If you know you know), but I don’t think so. I think this town really is as great as I make it out to be.
So, I truly light up when someone calls the office and wants to know “Why Huntsville?” I don’t even know where I begin. I mean, what isn’t there to love?
